Grace Nyele Mensah Receives Recording Academy Membership Invitation: A Milestone for Ghana’s Music Industry

The future of Africa’s music industry will be shaped by professionals who not only understand the business of music but also contribute to the conversations that influence its direction. Today, I am proud to celebrate one of those professionals.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Grace Nyele Mensah, Chief Operating Officer of Apprise Music & Media and Head of Publishing, has received an official invitation to become a member of the Recording Academy, the organization behind the GRAMMY Awards. The invitation followed her nomination through the Academy’s membership process.
This is a well-deserved recognition of Grace’s years of work across music publishing, rights management, artist development, and creative industry capacity building.
For those of us who have worked alongside her, this moment comes as no surprise.
From the earliest days of Apprise Music & Media, Grace has helped build systems that enable independent artists to better understand ownership, publishing administration, royalty collection, copyright management, and sustainable careers. Furthermore, she has consistently approached every project with professionalism, curiosity, and a commitment to raising industry standards.

Receiving an invitation from the Recording Academy is not simply a personal achievement.
It represents recognition from one of the world’s most respected music institutions. As a result, professionals from Ghana and the wider African continent are making meaningful contributions to the global music business.
As Africa continues to occupy a larger place in the international music economy, representation within institutions such as the Recording Academy becomes increasingly important. These memberships create opportunities for broader perspectives. They also enable stronger advocacy for African creators, deeper international collaboration, and greater visibility for the professionals working behind the scenes.
